UP TO CONDUCT FULL F2F CLASSES IN 2ND SEM OF AY 2022-2023

/ 30 September 2022

THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines will implement full face-to-face classes in all its undergraduate courses in the second semester of Academic Year 2022-2023.

“This is complementary to the university’s adoption of hybrid and blended learning to equip students for the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and achieve educational resilience in a volatile and rapidly changing world,” UP said in a statement.

The university said that it currently holds 100% in-person classes for laboratory, studio, and practicum courses and all courses in some of its constituent universities.

It also noted that UP Manila began holding full face-to-face classes for its courses in the public health disciplines as early as July 2021.

“Details regarding implementing face-to-face classes in all courses and the learning delivery mode in the graduate programs are currently being finalized,” UP said.

Senator Pia Cayetano earlier criticized five state universities and colleges, including UP, for not fully holding in-person classes.

During the Senate committee on finance’s hearing on the 2023 budget of the Commission on Higher Education and SUCs, Cayetano asked UP President Danilo Concepcion the basis of the blended learning implementation at UP Diliman.

Concepcion explained that their policy was in accordance with the regulations of the Quezon City government.

But Cayetano said Mayor Joy Belmonte denied the university’s claim upon her clarification.
