UP GUARDS STAGE WALKOUT TO PROTEST UNFAIR LABOR PRACTICES
SECURITY guards stationed at the University of the Philippines Diliman walked out in protest of “unfair labor practices.”
A report by Bulatlat, an alternative media organization, said that the guards complained that after a new agency took over, over a hundred of them have been fired.
They claimed that they are also not being paid for overtime work and night differential.
Security guard Johny Azusana said that this was the first time that they have been treated this way in his 25 years of service in UP.
The guards sought the return of their displaced colleagues and the revocation of the contract of Femjeg Security Agency as a security service provider.
