THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines and the Ateneo de Manila University dropped a few rungs from their previous rankings in the 2023 Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings.

UP fell to 412th spot, thirteen places lower than its 2022 ranking, while ADMU fell to the 651-700 bracket from the 601-650 ranking in the previous year.

Meanwhile, the De La Salle University and the University of Santo Tomas maintained their rankings at 800-1000.

QS assessed almost 1,500 institutions from around the world through the following indicators: academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty and student ratio, citations per faculty, and international student and international faculty ratio.

“This year’s ranking features two new indicators – International Research Network and Employment Outcomes,” QS said in a statement.

“These are both unweighted this year, which means they don’t affect the overall score or rank of a university. Instead, they have been included so QS can gather feedback from institutions ahead of fully including them within the ranking in next year’s methodology,” it added.

The top 10 universities in the world for 2023 are:

  1. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (US)
  2. University of Cambridge (UK)
