UE MANILA SHINES ANEW IN YMCA NAT’L CONGRESS OF COLLEGE STUDENTS

FOR 10 consecutive years, the University of the East has once again dominated the YMCA (Young Men’s Christian Association) National Congress of College Students.

The university bagged the Outstanding Delegation Award in the 45th edition of the event after besting 38 participating colleges and universities across the Philippines.

The list of awardees is as follows:

• Queenie Leal: Outstanding Delegate and elected as Congress Plenary Secretary-General
• Charlemaine Angelique Lopez: Outstanding Delegate and elected as Commission Chairperson
• Naoumi Santander: elected as Commission Chairperson
• Clarise Gesmundo: elected as Commission Co-Chairperson and Cluster Co-Chairperson
• Miguel Fernandez: elected as Commission Co-Chairperson and contributor to Congress Balita
• Ramyla Ynah Parreno: elected as Commission Rapporteurs
• Roman Paulo Baet: elected as Commission Rapporteurs and layout artist for Gabay at Tanglaw
• Carmella Joy Naa: elected as Commission Rapporteurs
• Yuan Vergel Lim: elected as Commission Marshal
• Mark Anthony Dorado: elected as Commission Marshal
• Angelo Galang: news writer for Congress Balita
• Gian Nicole Nunez: news writers for Congress Balita
• John Laurence Cabandong: contributor to Gabay at Tanglaw

Other members of the UE Manila delegation were Eugero Vincent Liberato and Mariel Rotoni.

Meanwhile, UE Manila Delegation Adviser Dexter Villanueva delivered a lecture on Parliamentary Procedure during the Congress.

He was also a ranking YMCA College Work Committee Member and a YMCA National Congress official serving as Congress Parliamentarian and Chairperson of the Workshop and Group Discussions Committee.

Prof. Reynalyn Elon-Tolentino, on the other hand, served as a Committee Member of the joint Congress Balita and Gabay at Tanglaw Committee and of the On-the-Spot Drawing Contest Committee.

This year’s theme is “baYan1han: Young People of Today, Champions of Change.”
