PUP, UE TO CONTINUE ASYNCHRONOUS CLASSES

/ 22 January 2022

TO GIVE students and teachers time to rest, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines will continue to hold asynchronous classes following spikes in Covid19 cases.

PUP President Dr. Manuel Muhi said that the university recognizes the challenges faced by its constituents.

“In consideration of the still increasing number of students and faculty members experiencing Covid19 and flu-like symptoms, PUP is extending the suspension of synchronous class activities in all levels to be implemented system-wide from January 22 to 31, 2022,” Muhi said.

The PUP Sentro na Konseho ng mga Mag-aaral last week reported that 715 students and teaching personnel tested positive for Covid19.

Of the 28,114 survey respondents, 21,729 said that they had flu-like symptoms while 11,925 had household members experiencing Covid19 symptoms.

Meanwhile, the University of the East also announced that only asynchronous sessions will be held in the tertiary level in Manila and Caloocan campuses from January 26 to 29.

UE Caloocan Chancellor Zosimo Battad said that synchronous sessions must be conducted on the first meetings only on January 24 and 25 for the faculty to orient their students.

The Basic Education Department will resume classes on January 24 on a “purely asynchronous mode.”
