HOLY ANGEL U STUDENTS OPPOSE 4.5 PERCENT TUITION HIKE

/ 24 April 2022

STUDENTS of Holy Angel University in Pampanga strongly opposed the proposed 4.5 percent tuition increase for Academic Year 2022-2023.

In a report by the school’s official publication the Angelite, HAU administration said the tuition per unit will increase from P1,373 to P1,434 for 2nd year students; P1,295 to P1,353 for 3rd year students; P1,259 to P1,315 for 4th year students; and P1,224 to P1,279 for 5th year students.

An increase of P329 will also be imposed for the miscellaneous fees.

In a statement, student group Volare stressed school officials should never place its students’ right to an accessible education at risk.

“We, the student-servant leaders, respectfully request that the proposed tuition fee increase be reviewed in light of the implications it may have not only on students’ financial capabilities, but also on HAU’s ability to fulfill its mission of providing, ‘accessible quality education that transforms students into persons of conscience, competence, and compassion, all for the glory of God,’” the group said.

It argued the proposed tuition increase jeopardizes the university’s mission and ideals, which it has stood for since its founding.

“The threat of upcoming tuition fee rise is unsettling to students since it emphasizes that, contrary to the constitution, institutions are failing to provide quality and accessible education to their students,” it added.

The POST sought comment from HAU officials, but has yet to receive a reply as of posting time.
