DAVAO ORIENTAL STATE U SECURES P15-M FOR FABRICATION LAB

/ 15 February 2022

THE DAVAO Oriental State University has secured a P15-million funding from the Commission on Higher Education for the establishment of its Fabrication Laboratory.

DOrSU said that the lab aims to “foster an innovation-driven environment to provide an avenue for ideation, development, and fabrication of technological solutions to be at the top of the ever-changing society.”

Under the project name “Paving Academe-Industry Unison for Beneficial Applications Yielding towards Advancements: Establishment of University Innovative Fabrication Laboratory for Multi-Sectoral Industries or PAUBAYA,” the fab labs will be accessible workshops that will continue the tradition of do-it-yourself with modern technology.

“Significantly, the establishment of FabLab is expected to aid various research and development projects that could be extended to specific industries through extension activities and create a higher possibility for commercialization,” DOrSU said.

Once established, the DOrSU Fablab will be the first in the province and among the few in the country, the university added.

The budget for the project came from CHED’s Institutional Development and Innovation Grants.
