/ 6 June 2021

THE SOUTHERN Luzon State University secured a P24-million funding from the Commission on Higher Education to address its internet connection woes.

The school said on Facebook it got the nod of CHED Chairman Prospero De Vera for its ‘Campus Area Network’ project with minor revisions.

It added the project will help SLSU with its services through the acquisition of network devices and equipment which can accommodate speeds higher than 100 MBPS.

The beneficiary of the project is SLSU campuses in Lucban, Lucena, Tiaong, Infanta, Tayabas, Gumaca, Catanauan, Tagkawayan, Alabat, and Polilo.

“The said proposal was approved with minor revisions. The proposed Smart Campus Area Network will address the network connectivity problems experienced by the university in the main and satellite campuses affecting the various online activities in the new normal of its stakeholders,” the school said.

“The proposal was conceived after an assessment of the current situation of the campus area network of SLSU where there are a very limited number of network devices, most of which are unmanaged devices,” it added.
