ATENEO TO ESTABLISH SCHOOL OF EDUCATION AND LEARNING DESIGN
THE ATENEO de Manila University will open its School of Education and Learning Design next year.
“I am pleased to announce that at its regular meeting held on 7 November 2020, the Ateneo de Manila Board of Trustees approved the establishment of a School of Education and Learning Design,” Fr. Roberto Yap, university president, said.
The SEALED will open in August 2021.
“As its name suggests, its programs will promote the science and art of designing learning — an increasingly crucial competence among educators working in formal education, as well as among learning professionals in fields other than formal education,” Yap said.
He added that the SEALD will offer programs in the undergraduate and graduate levels.
“The school is set to be multidisciplinary, and will be explicitly mission-oriented, geared towards building the capacity of our educational leaders, policy makers, and teachers—especially those serving in our public education system,” Yap said.
He said that the Education Department, which is under the School of Social Sciences, will move to the new school along with the Ateneo Teacher Center, the Ateneo SALT Institute, Pathways for Higher Education, and two new departments.
