ASCOT PARTNERS WITH BALER LGU TO BOOST TOURISM IN AURORA

/ 5 April 2023

THE AURORA State College of Technology partnered with the municipality of Baler, Aurora to boost tourism in the province.

ASCOT said that its students were involved in showcasing the indigenous crafts of Aurorans.

“The carefully crafted products, including bags, small cabinets, lampshades, flower vases, and sculptures made from rattan and sabutan materials were the works of fourth-year students in the Bachelor in Hospitality Management under the Indigenous Creative Craft program. These products showcase the unique beauty and creativity of the people of Aurora,” ASCOT said.

The project also aims to create employment for its students in the tourism industry.

“The project aims to encourage the students to explore different possibilities for employment in the tourism industry, specifically in the handicraft sector. By showcasing these indigenous crafts, ASCOT hopes to help boost the tourism economy in the province and promote the preservation of local cultural heritage,” it added.

The project was created during the turnover ceremony of indigenous arts and crafts to Mayor Rhett Angara at the Museo de Baler on March 30, 2023.
