10 MMSU STUDENTS CERTIFIED FOR SUPERVISED COURT PRACTICE

/ 9 November 2023

TEN law students from the Mariano Marcos State University took their oath as student practitioners at the Batac City Regional Trial Court.

Khayle Marie Apalisoc, Mayflor Balinuyus, Angelica Caluya, Kristia Ruth Mangabat, Angelo Miguel Martinez, Debroah Faith Pajarillo, Ma. Kristel Kae Sacoco, Kastin Kaye Santos, Ms. May Ann Sarandi, and Darwin Andres took their oath before Executive Judge Maria Corazon Labrador.

The senior law students can now appear in court with the supervision of law clinic professors.

This stage is a significant step toward the practical application of their legal education and a unique opportunity to contribute to the legal field.

Brian Jay Corpuz, MMSU College of Law Dean, encouraged the students “to embrace the challenges and responsibilities that come with their legal expertise, especially that they can start appearing in courts to represent clients, with the supervision of law clinic professors.”

The law allows certified law student practitioners to prepare judicial affidavits of witnesses, represent clients at any stage of legal proceedings or trials before any court, quasi-judicial or administrative body, act on behalf of government agencies in the prosecution of criminal actions, and prepare pleadings for appealed cases.
