CHED WELCOMES WORLD BANK FINDINGS FOR FUNCTIONAL REVIEW
THE COMMISSION on Higher Education (CHED) has welcomed the initial findings of the World Bank on its functional review.
In a news release late Monday, CHED Chairperson Shirley Agrupis said the preliminary findings and recommendations will help improve the operations within the agency.
“The review supports continuing reforms to strengthen the Commission’s capacity to serve students and higher education institutions,” she said.
The ongoing study is also seen to help push improved governance and enhanced systems for students and stakeholders.
“The recommendations may help strengthen regulatory processes, improve scholarship management, accelerate system digitization, and enhance governance mechanisms across the Commission,” she added.
The functional review began on January 30, and is part of the agency’s ACHIEVE agenda, which aims to ensure stronger governance, smarter systems and a more responsive public service that genuinely delivers for Filipino students and higher education institutions nationwide.
Among the World Bank delegation are Dr. Cristian Aedo, Practice Manager for the East Asia and Pacific Region of the Education Global Practice; Tara Béteille, Lead Economist in the East Asia Pacific Region; Janssen Teixeira, Senior Education Specialist in Education Global Practice; and Koen Geven, Senior Economist in the Education Global Practice.
