MANILA SUSPENDS CLASSES FOR PBBM’S 2026 SONA

/ 24 July 2026

MANILA Mayor Isko Moreno announced the suspension of face-to-face and online classes at all levels in public and private schools in the city on Monday, July 27, 2026, in observance of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA).

The suspension covers learners from kindergarten to senior high school, as well as students in colleges and universities, both in public and private educational institutions.

Moreno said the move aims to give Manileños, particularly students and teachers, the opportunity to watch and closely follow the President’s SONA.

The Quezon City government also suspended classes on the same day, citing possible disruptions to students and teachers due to road closures in connection with the event.

In its advisory, the local government likewise encouraged residents and students to listen to the President’s address.
