PDEA, ARELLANO UNIVERSITY RENEW SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR FAMILIES OF FALLEN PERSONNEL
THE PHILIPPINE Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has renewed its partnership with Arellano University, strengthening its scholarship program for the families of personnel who died or were incapacitated in the line of duty.
Under the updated Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), educational assistance will now cover not only the children of fallen PDEA personnel, but also dependents of those who were permanently incapacitated, as well as those who died due to natural or accidental causes. Selected qualified PDEA personnel will also be included in the program.
The five-year agreement guarantees full scholarship benefits across all seven campuses of Arellano University in Metro Manila. It covers basic education, senior high school, college, and the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP). In addition, PDEA personnel pursuing graduate or master’s degrees will be granted a 50 percent tuition discount.
The agreement was formalized by PDEA Director General Isagani Nerez and Arellano University Chairman and President Francisco Paulino Cayco during a ceremonial signing.
Nerez said the renewed partnership reflects PDEA’s continued commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their families, particularly those who have made sacrifices in the line of service.
“By securing access to quality education, we help ensure that their children are given opportunities to build a better future,” he said.
He also expressed gratitude to Arellano University for its continued support, noting that the initiative helps preserve the legacy of fallen personnel while easing the financial burden on their families.
The renewed agreement underscores the continuing collaboration between PDEA and the academic sector, reinforcing efforts to provide long-term educational assistance and support the welfare of the agency’s workforce.
