MSU-IIT, MALAYSIA’S TOP UNIVERSITY CO-ORGANIZE GLOBAL GREEN ENERGY CONFERENCE
MINDANAO State University–Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) strengthened its international research footprint after co-organizing the International Conference on Biomass, Biofuels and Green Transition (BioGreen 2026) with Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) in Kuching, Sarawak.
Held at the Waterfront Hotel and spearheaded by UTP—Malaysia’s top-ranked university under the Times Higher Education World University Rankings—the conference brought together researchers, scientists, and innovators to address global challenges in renewable energy and climate change.
The event was co-organized by MSU-IIT through its Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Enterprise (OVCRE), highlighting the university’s active role in advancing international research collaboration on sustainable technologies.
BioGreen 2026 focused on biomass and biofuel innovations, particularly the conversion of agricultural waste and microalgae into renewable energy sources, offering practical pathways for sustainable development in resource-rich regions such as Mindanao.
The conference also reflected the decade-long partnership between MSU-IIT and UTP, marked by sustained faculty exchanges and joint research initiatives aimed at translating scientific knowledge into enterprise-driven solutions.
Under the leadership of OVCRE and Vice Chancellor Prof. Ephrime Metillo, MSU-IIT continues to position itself as a key player in the global green transition by aligning research excellence with economic growth and environmental stewardship.
