ALL-LOCAL NEOPHOENIX DROP TO 0-6 BEFORE RAVENA, SERBIAN IMPORTS COULD MAKE DEBUT

Still winless, San-En NeoPhoenix suffered their sixth straight defeat with a 34-point deficit at the hands of Toyama Grouses, 91-57, last Sunday at Toyama City Gymnasium.

Trotting out an all-local team, San-En once again lost grip of the match from the onset, trailing 28-9 in the opening frame and hardly stood any chance against a complete Toyama home court.

Tatsuya Suzuki led the campaign with 12 points, three steals, two rebounds, and two assists, while Atsuya Ota had 10 points and nine boards.

The key players, unfortunately, never got any assistance from the rest of the squad as it fell to 0-6.

San-En just shot 32-percent from the field, while Toyama shot an efficient 56-percent, including a blistering 11-of-24 shooting from deep, good for 46-percent.

Zimbabwean import Julian Mavunga had a field day for Toyama with his 31 points, five rebounds, three blocks, and two assists as the team rose to 5-1.

Richard Solomon added a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds, Satoru Maeta shot a perfect 4-of-4 from deep to notch 15 points while Yuta Okada nabbed 11 points and three assists.

But help is on the way for NeoPhoenix as Serbian imports Stevan Jelovac and Nenad Miljenovic are expected to suit up for the team with coach Branislav Vićentić in their game against fellow cellar-dweller Shinshu Brave Warriors (0-6) on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Filipino reinforcement Thirdy Ravena, remains in the off-court as he awaits the end of his 14-day quarantine.
