DEPED TO PROBE ‘TEACHERS ON THE ROOF’ INCIDENT
THE DEPARTMENT of Education said that it will investigate the case of teachers who were photographed searching for better internet signal on the roof of a school in Batangas City.
The department said that it received reports that the photos were staged.
“DepEd is keen to investigate these activities and exhaust legal remedies to ensure that only accurate information will reach our stakeholders,” it said.
The advisory was issued after photos of teachers in Batangas City who climbed on the roof to get a better signal for online learning became viral on social media earlier this week.
In a press briefing, Education Secretary Leonor Briones said that she instructed an undersecretary to get more details about the incident.
Meanwhile, DepEd advised the public to verify information or photos with the agency before sharing.
“It is for the best interest of everyone who is still adjusting to the transition to distance learning,” Briones said.
For guidance and references, DepEd said that the public may refer to its official website and other verified social media accounts.
DepEd also urged the public to report other school opening concerns to its Public Assistance Command Center through [email protected].
