SENATOR COMMENDS STUDENT FOR SECURING GOLD MEDAL IN INTERNATIONAL MATH OLYMPIAD
SENATOR Manuel “Lito” Lapid filed a resolution congratulating and commending a 10-year old student for securing a gold medal for the Philippines during the 4th Copernicus International Math Olympiad held at the Columbia University in the United States.
In Senate Resolution 685, Lapid said the Senate should recognize Francis Deinmel Legaspi for his accomplishment that brought honor, pride and glory to the country.
The Copernicus International Math Olympiad is an event that brings together students from Grades 3 to 12 to compete in both Mathematics and Astronomy.
Lapid said Legaspi, who hails from Olongapo City, is a student of Special Education Center for the Gifted-Kalayaan. He secured the gold medal for the Philippines by defeating more than a hundred participants from 22 countries.
“In addition to this competition, Legaspi has previously demonstrated his exceptional talent by securing gold medals in various Math competitions, such as in Hong Kong International Math Olympiad, Philippine International Math Olympiad and World International Math Olympiad,” Lapid said in his resolution.
He stressed that Legaspi’s consistent exemplary and outstanding performance resulting in another gold medal victory for the Philippines deserves the utmost praise, recognition, and commendation for bringing pride and inspiration to the Filipino people.
