PLM JOINS MOVEMENT TO END VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN
STUDENTS, faculty and staff of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila signed pledges to uphold the campaign to stop violence against women and girls.
The school took part in activities led by the Philippine Commission on Women which aim to strengthen legislation supporting women’s human rights and ending gender-based violence.
The campaign that started on November 25 will run until December 12.
PLM President Emmanuel Leyco led the school activities.
“PLM has been and continues to be a safe space for women. We join the national campaign against VAW to raise awareness among Filipinos that violence towards women, or any gender-based attacks, have no place in modern society,” Leyco said.
“We strive for a Philippines and a world where all individuals are treated with dignity regardless of sex, gender identity, or socioeconomic status. Ensuring that each person receives quality education is one of the effective ways to do it,” he added.
