KABATAAN Partylist Rep. Raoul Manuel promised to focus on achieving substantial reforms in the education sector, particularly in passing the Safe School Reopening and Student Aid Bills while actively resisting anti-youth policies such as the Mandatory Reserved Officers Training Corps, among others.

Manuel made the pronouncement as he furnished a report of his first 100 days in office to demonstrate how youth leadership can set the standard for good governance.

“We find that within three months or roughly around 48 session days, Kabataan Rep. Raoul Manuel has filed and co-authored 141 House bills and 65 House resolutions, for a total of 206 house measures,” Manuel said.

He also expressed elation after their proposed 2023 House budget amendments were partially reflected by institutional amendments released by the House Committee on Appropriations.

These include P500 million increase for the UP-Philippine General Hospital, P10 billion increase for Department of Education’s construction of classrooms, and P581 million restored budget for special education program.

Manuel also divulged they have two House bills passed on third reading namely Free College Entrance Examinations Bill or House Bill 5001 and the National Education Support Personnel Day Bill or House Bill 561, together with ACT Teachers Partylist and Gabriela Women’s Party.
Meanwhile, the Anti-No Permit, No Exam Bill has been passed by the Committee on Higher and Technical Education subject to amendments.
