The Lady Realtors ended their two-game skid after defeating Army in an impressive fashion courtesy of Jovielyn Prado who starred all throughout the match and formed a potent combo with Jonah Sabete and MJ Phillips.

With the win, Sta. Lucia added a win to improve in a 2-3 slate, after their first win since a sweep of PLDT on July 19. 

It was Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, who came off the bench, that allowed Sta. Lucia to snatch the first set together with Mika Reyes who blocked Royse Tubino that gave the squad a 24-23 lead and eventually drilled the crosscourt hit that served as the winner.

Sta. Lucia’s offense stayed unparalleled in the second set to rise to a 2-0 lead, but the Army snagged a third set victory with the Lady Realtors 10 unforced errors, including a poor touch by MJ Philips in the final rally that gave the army the set. 

The Realtors rebounded from the third set loss with a huge run in the fourth frame, 22-14, thanks to a clutch attack by Prado and a big down-the-line hit by Jonah Sabete off a poor reception by Army that sealed the win. 

Prado top scored with 17 points. Philips nailed 11 attacks and three aces for 14 points and had 15 digs, while Sabete ended with 13 points and 14 digs.

Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, who came off the bench, and Mika Reyes contributed nine points each. 

Sta Lucia coach Eddieson Orcullo said they needed to work on their consistency to keep on winning.

“Yun minsan sakit namin eh. Yung titigil, tapos ta-trabaho ulit, titigil tapos trabaho. So simple lang sinabi ko, nandito na tayo eh. Baka pagdating sa dulo, magsisihan pa tayo,” coach Orcullo said.

“Yung Army kasi alam natin kapag nabuhayan yan lalo na yung mga beterano, sa dulo medyo mahirap talunin na yan. Kaya dapat dire-diretsuhin na namin,” he added.

Tubino and veteran Ging Balse-Pabayo led the Army with 13 points, while Jovelyn Gonzaga added 11 markers and 18 digs as the Lady Troopers dropped to a 1-3 slate.
