UP VISAYAS TURNS OVER EQUIPMENT FOR DEPED CULTURAL MAPPING PROJECT

/ 17 July 2021

TO ESTABLISH baseline documentation and interconnectivity of cultural resources in localities, the University of the Philippines Visayas turned over laptops and cameras to the Department of Education in Antique for its Cultural Mapping Project.

The project aims to develop primary and secondary teachers’ learning materials.

UPV said 22 Acer laptops and 22 Canon DSLR cameras were delivered to DepEd Antique this month.

“The teacher-mappers will utilize the equipment for fieldwork activities and writing sessions. The DepEd Supply Office will facilitate the distribution of the equipment to each of the schools’ districts in the province of Antique,” UPV said.

The cultural mapping of Antique is a project of UPV in partnership with the Department of Agriculture, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, provincial government of Antique, and Office of the Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda.

UPV Chancellor Clement Camposano said that cultural mapping is important to establish people’s identity.

“We can never truly say that we know who we are if we do not make an effort to understand our history and culture,” Camposano said.
