UPLB PARTNERS WITH DOST METAL INDUSTRY RESEARCH DEV’T
THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines Los Baños has partnered with the Department of Science and Technology’s Metals Industry Research and Development Center to establish a national center for additive manufacturing.
UPLB and MIRDC signed a Memorandum of Understanding and a Memorandum of Agreement together with other members of the academe and industry players for the official launch of the Advanced Manufacturing Center.
DOST Secretary Fortunato Dela Pena said that the partnership “will accomplish great things.”
The center aims to complement the growing productivity and competitiveness of Philippine universities through its knowledge ecosystem called the AmCen Connected Minds.
It will be composed of five clusters — academe; technology and industry innovators; DOST regional offices; technology providers; and industry sector.
De la Peña called on the agency’s partners to take advantage of the connected minds network, saying that “nothing is impossible” if all those involved in the project will collaborate.
