USM PROCURES P25-M LAPTOPS FOR FACULTY
THE UNIVERSITY of Southern Mindanao procured P25-million worth of laptops and connectivity gadgets for its faculty members to help them with the implementation of flexible learning.
USM said that the laptops and gadgets are for 390 teachers.
Dr. Geoffray R. Atok, USM Faculty Association president, said that the initiative will be particularly helpful for those with outdated computers and who are having problems with their internet connection.
“It was no less than the University President who asked me regarding the needs of our faculty members during this pandemic and so we conducted the online survey to cater and accommodate all the campuses. The President has already foreseen the problems that our faculty members will be facing during this challenging time,” Atok said.
The laptops arrived on May 18 and were immediately distributed to teachers after being inspected.
The distribution of the gadgets is expected to be completed before the end of June 2021.
The funding for the laptops and connectivity gadgets was sourced from the savings generated by the university, USM said.
