ANGELES MAYOR TO PARENTS: HAVE YOUR KIDS VACCINATED AGAINST HPV
PARENTS of young girls in Angeles City in Pampanga were urged to have their children vaccinated against human papillomaviruses.
Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. prodded parents to give their daughters aged 9 to 14 HPV vaccines.
The City Information Office said that the initiative aims to protect young girls from diseases.
“HPV vaccines are vaccines that protect against infection with human papillomaviruses (HPV). HPV is a group of more than 200 related viruses, which can cause genital warts and certain types of cancer (cervical, anal, oropharyngeal, penile, vulvar, and vaginal),” it said.
The HPV jab is part of the city’s community-based immunization.
The project was implemented in coordination with the City Health Office and Gender and Development Office.
These offices are in charge of the vaccination program in 33 villages.
