TWENTY-FIVE police officers in Batangas province are undergoing electrical installation training under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.

The police officers will train for 25 days after which they will be given Electrical Installation and Maintenance National Certificate II.

After they graduate, these police personnel will be tapped as community-based trainers.

The province recently launched the Training for Work Scholarship Program. The opening ceremony was attended by TESDA Batangas Provincial Director Gerardo Mercado, RTC Calabarzon Acting Administrator Dorie Gutierrez, and Batangas Police Provincial Director Col. Rex Arvin Malimban.

In July 2020, TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapeña signed a Memorandum of Agreement with then PNP chief Archie Gamboa to empower Indigenous Peoples, former rebels, and those in remote areas.

Under the agreement, TESDA and PNP will carry out education and training and share facilities and equipment for training programs and competency assessment and certification.

TESDA was tasked to upskill police officers who will visit remote communities to train residents on agriculture and other technical-vocational courses.

Lapeña had said that TESDA does not have enough trainers and training schools to reach far-flung communities. This shortage will be filled in by police officers who will be trained and later become trainers in remote communities.

In March, 25 PNP personnel in the National Capital Region completed the Driving NC II Training Program of TESDA.
