UNIVERSITY OF CALOOCAN CITY, PATTS SUSPEND SYNCHRONOUS CLASSES

/ 8 April 2021

THE UNIVERSITY of Caloocan City suspended synchronous classes for the duration of the lockdown in the National Capital Region.

The office of the vice president for academic affairs said that the move aims to give students and staff a breather.

“This is to afford some respite and to relieve the stress from the measures instilled in this ECQ. Any deadlines for academic works to be submitted shall be set for April 12 onwards,” it said in a memorandum.

“All classes shall be conducted either by asynchronous method or other mediums not involving video conferencing,” it added.

Deans were also advised to coordinate with their respective department heads and faculty members regarding the memo.

The announcement came after the UCC Supreme Student Council held an online forum for students regarding their experience with distance learning.

Many students said that they need an academic break due to mental and physical exhaustion brought by the Covid19 pandemic.

The SSC lauded the school administration’s move.

“Ang hakbang na ito ay nagpapatunay na patuloy na pagtugon ng ating kolehiyo sa mga hinaing ng mga mag-aaral nito. Isang malaking tulong para sa mga kapwa nating ka-Yusisista na nasa mahirap na sitwasyon ngayon,” it said on Facebook.

The Philippine Air Transport and Training Services College of Aeronautics  also suspended synchronous classes in light of the extended Enhanced Community Quarantine in the National Capital Region.

PATTS announced that there will be no synchronous classes from April 7 to April 10.

During this period, the posting of quizzes, activities and assignments will be suspended.

However, the deadline of activities prior to the announcement will remain unchanged.

The school said that the midterm exams scheduled on April 12 to April 17 will push through.
