GLOBE INSTALLS 99 NEW CELL TOWERS AND UPGRADES 917 SITES IN QC
MORE and more Globe customers are now experiencing the benefits of its aggressive network builds and expansion in the past few weeks.
Quezon City is one of the major cities which has seen a major boost with the company’s efforts as it has installed at least 99 new cell towers and has completed 917 site upgrades from January to November this year. These efforts have made connectivity with bigger capacity and wider coverage possible all over the city.
Several customers have expressed their appreciation of Globe’s recent network rollouts and modernization which are very crucial in giving them a fast, reliable and dependable internet connection.
Clifford Valdez, a call center supervisor, says connectivity is very important in his work and the faster his connection, the better.
“Very crucial ngayon every second online ka specially sa line of work namin, first world country ang mga kausap. Unacceptable ang slow connection. (Every second being online is very crucial to our line of work. You are talking with customers from a first world country. Having a slow connection is unacceptable.),” Valdez explained while showing his data speed averaging at 28 mbps.
Strong connectivity is not only crucial to those who work or learn from their homes, because easy access to the internet helps keep communities safe too.
In UP Village, Executive Officer Luis Carlos Zamora said, “Malaking bagay po sa peace and order namin yan. Yan ang gusto ni Mayor, high-tech talaga. (This is really a big help for our peace and order in the city. This is what the Mayor (Joy Belmonte) wanted, it should be high-tech.),”
Zamora shared that better data connectivity has allowed them to keep their barangay safe and secure.
He added that through reliable communications, timely updates and public advisories on social media, they have been able to apprehend criminals and lawbreakers in their barangay.
Despite the challenges brought by the Covid19 pandemic, more barangays in Quezon city have experienced improved call and data services. In areas where no cell tower can’t be installed yet, Globe has upgraded its technology from the old 2G/3G to 4G/LTE.
These improvements in call, text and data services have been confirmed by international third party analytical firms Ookla® and Opensignal.
Ookla®, the global leader in internet testing and analysis, has reported that Globe has the most consistent 4G network in 13 out of 17 regions based on its Q3 2020 data. In terms of scores, Ookla’s quarterly data showed that in terms of mobile Consistency Score™, Globe is now enjoying up to 64% consistency in these high population density areas, nearing the global benchmark of 70% consistency score. Mobile consistency score measures the number of incidences (viewed as percentage) of a provider’s samples equal or exceed both a download threshold of 5 Mbps and upload threshold of 1 Mbps.
Also, comparing download speeds between Q3 2019 and Q3 2020, Ookla data showed that Globe has a 12% higher mean download speed for all technologies and a 5% higher mean download speed for 4G/ LTE.
“At the end of the day these installations will be for naught if our customers will not experience an improvement of their mobile and data services. We are hoping that more service improvements will be enjoyed by our customers in Quezon City in the coming new year. Happy customers mean what we are doing now is right ,” said Joel Agustin, Globe Senior Vice President for Program Delivery, Network Technical Group.
