IFUGAO STATE U DISTRIBUTES NUTRI PACKS TO COVID19 FRONTLINERS
THE IFUGAO State University distributed thousands of processed nutritious products to different municipalities to help Covid19 frontliners stay healthy.
The university distributed 11,244 tinawon rice packs and 3,796 jars of lemon jam to 11 municipalities. The beneficiaries were healthcare workers, security personnel and the poor.
The university said it bought the produce from farmers who were unable to sell their crops because of quarantine restrictions.
“IFSU bought the overabundant carrot produce of the farmers from Kiangan and Tinoc. IFSU also produced lemon jams and distributed the jams with bread,” it said on Facebook.
“Carrot juice and lemon jam, known to be rich in vitamins, were made alternative to commercial beverages and bread spreads to help the frontline workers. Tinawon rice was also bought from the Ifugao Rice Terraces Farmers Cooperative. This was not only helpful to the rice beneficiaries but also the Tinawon farmers,” it added.
