In the GOAL Keepers Webinar hosted by iACADEMY last June 11, Jonathan Que, the first Amazon Web Services employee in the Philippines discussed the demand for Cloud Talents in the Philippines as companies adapt new technologies.

“This is not a fad, not a trend,” declares Que, the Country Manager and Director of eCloudValley Technology, as he outlined the broad opportunities and demands for cloud talents in the local and global market. “Today, all enterprise companies are looking for cloud talents and are hiring them at a premium,” he adds.

In the last decade, a significant number of pioneering companies in the Philippines have adapted new technologies and contemporary approaches to businesses. Cloud Computing, being the game-changing system that provided digital solutions and delivery of IT services to these companies, created opportunities and a remarkable demand for cloud computing professionals.

Que shared that in over 75 interviews they have done in Amazon Web Services (AWS), they were only able to hire one cloud talent who was well-equipped for the job. With this scarcity, Que mentioned that a huge opportunity for aspiring cloud talents here in the Philippines remains largely untapped. “Cloud talents are one of the hardest resources to find in the Philippines today,” he added.

While the cloud industry is open for all IT and Computer Science majors, Que mentioned that having a certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS) dramatically increases the value of a cloud talent in terms of job opportunities, salary grade, and career trajectory not only in the Philippines but also abroad.
