A CANVAS is not only a blank space for fixed thoughts, for Ron Lopez Davis it’s also a living record of time, memory, and discovery. This is the main highlight of the abstract works that are now showcased in “Splendeur en Couleur,” a solo exhibition by Davis at the Alliance Française de Manille in Makati City.

With a grand artistic vernissage, the exhibition invites viewers into a vibrant dialogue with Davis’ cross-cultural experiences, shifting landscapes, and fond memories.

The Filipino-American painter translates intuition, time, and the process of discovery into dynamic images not to spawn a single interpretation nor be a visual puzzle with one solution. But instead an invitation to experience the weight and profound beauty as it is.

Having been born in Manila and raised in San Francisco, his works also serve as a bridge between  Filipino characteristics and the atmosphere of West Coast abstraction.

Davis is also a core member of a group called The Brut Collective, together with Reb Belleza and David Kaufman, bringing in a contemplative and composed voice within the realms of contemporary abstraction.
