The Philippines finished the tilt without any point and with a 0-3 slate, putting them at the bottom of the group.

Timorese striker Zenivio Mota delivered the last strike that gave the upset 1-0 win for Timor Leste which was helped by a cross from midfielder Paulo Gali in the left flank that scrambled the Philippines defense.

The Filipinos controlled most of the possession in the match, however, Timorese displayed tough grounds, preventing them from closing their campaign on a positive note.

The Azkals U-23 started out their campaign with a 0-3 loss to defending AFC Under-23 Asian Cup champions South Korea then absorbed a 1-0 defeat from Singapore in a match that team management felt was winnable.

Azkals team manager Dan Palami expressed on social media that the performance shown by the Azkals was “way, way below par.”

Meanwhile, Timor Leste finished their stint with four points, tied with Singapore, who will face defending champions Korea Republic later today.
