REBISCO PH FALLS SHORT IN A FOUR-SET MATCH AGAINST IRAN’S SAIPA

Rebisco Philippines suffered another loss in its stint in the Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship against Saipa Tehran of Iran in a four-set game, 26-24, 22-25, 25-13, 25-17.

Tehran had a good start with three points on the lead and despite the six unforced errors, they managed to nab the first set, 26-24.

However, Rebisco retaliated on the second set led by team captain Aby Maraño and reinforced with good blocks coming from Dindin Santiago-Manabat and Majoy Baron as well as the chemistry among the veterans and the young players, 25-22.

With a 1-1 situation, Tehran quickly turned the tables down and went on a massive 12-2 gap, not giving the veterans and young guns a chance to draw level, the Iranian team finished the third set with a 12 points deficit from Rebisco, 25-13.

The Philippines lost the momentum after the third set loss and added more fuel for Iran after a net fault midway of the set. The game ended with a 5 point gap, 25-17.

As the Iranian club claimed its first victory, the opposite for the Rebisco team for Iran’s win closes the Rebisco’s preliminary round with no wins.

Nevertheless, the Filipina spikers will face Pool A leader Nakhon Ratchasima in the do-or-die quarterfinals on Monday.
