After the announcement of Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) of NCR Plus in the first half of April and downgraded into Modified ECQ in the next half of the month, the country’s first-ever women’s pro volleyball league were also stopped from their batch bubble training.

In the meeting with League officials headed by PVL President Ricky Palou, it was considered that the teams had insufficient time for training. Thus, all teams needed more time to train before the official tournament.

“We decided to do this to give ample time for the teams to train as a team as the training of the teams was disrupted when the government agencies agreed to place NCR, Laguna, Rizal, Cavite, and Bulacan under ECQ and now MECQ,” Palou said.

The Open Conference was supposed to kick off a week before May ends. Palou revealed that the opening of curtains was moved in the late second quarter or early third quarter of the year.

“We have agreed to move the PVL opening to either last week of June or the first week of July,” he disclosed.

If circumstances are unfavorable and Laguna is still under MECQ by the time tournament.  Palou conferred that the league is considering other provinces like Subic to host the said event.

Last March 29, the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) announced the suspension of batch training, Creamline Cool Smashers, BanKo Perlas Spikers, and Choco Mucho Flying Titans held their training at Ronac Shaw Boulevard. Petro Gazz Angels were also in training sessions at Filoil Flying V Centre.

Sister squads, PLDT, and Cignal are holding their training at their home base camps – San Sebastian College Gym and Paco Arena. While Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors and Chery Tiggo Crossovers are preparing for the tournament at Rizal and Subic, respectively.

BaliPure (RIM Sports) and UAC (SGS) are set to start training at Quezon City.

Meanwhile, F2 Logistics Cargo Movers is still on the look to find a place to train.
