PVL: CREAMLINE AIMS TO EXTEND WINNING STREAK TO SEVEN AGAINST CIGNAL
DEFENDING champion Creamline aims to continue its perfect run in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference as they face Cignal on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 6:30 p.m. at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
The Cool Smashers are riding high on a six-match winning streak, most recently defeating the Nxled Chameleons, 25-12, 25-21, 25-19, on Jan. 28.
“We’re happy with our six straight wins and our confidence is high, but as (Bernadeth) Pons said, we can’t afford to be complacent,” said Creamline head coach Sherwin Meneses. “We know Cignal will come at us hard, and they have young players who can be a threat.”
After Cignal, Creamline will face Chery Tiggo, Farm Fresh, PLDT, and Galeries Tower in their remaining preliminary round matches.
Despite the departures of key players like skipper Ces Molina and middle blocker Riri Meneses, Cignal has leaned on veterans such as Vanie Gandler, Rose Doria-Aquino, and setter Gel Cayuna. Cignal currently holds a 5-2 record, placing them third.
In the day’s earlier match at 4 p.m., Akari (4-4) takes on Capital1, who will try to bounce back after a tough loss to the Zus Coffee Thunderbelles.
