MANILA — The Philippine Women’s National Volleyball Team is preparing for a significant showdown at the AVC Challenge Cup for Women 2024.
Leading the team are Sisi Rondina from Choco Mucho and Jia De Guzman from Creamline, who are set to spearhead the campaign in the tournament from May 22 to 29 at the historic Rizal Memorial Stadium.
They will be joined by seasoned professionals Eya Laure and Jennifer Nierva from Chery Tiggo, Dawn Macandili-Catindig and Vanie Gandler from Cignal, Dell Palomata from PLDT, and Cherry Nunag from Choco Mucho. Faith Nisperos and Fifi Sharma from Akari also bolster the lineup.
The announcement of this formidable squad was made official by Philippine National Volleyball Federation President Tats Suzara during a recent event.
In addition to these veterans, the team features standout UAAP players Bella Belen from National University and Angel Canino from De La Salle University. Completing the impressive roster are Alyssa Solomon from NU, Casiey Dongallo from UE, and the La Salle duo Thea Gagate and Julia Coronel.
Men’s side
On the men’s side, Bryan Bagunas and Marck Espejo lead the team, alongside two-time UAAP MVP Josh Ybanez and two-time UAAP Best Setter Joshua Retamar.
The team, coached by Sergio Veloso, includes Nico Almendras, Joseph Bello, JP Bugaoan, Mark Calado, Chao Diao, Jade Disquitado, Menard Guerrero, Lloyd Josafat, Noel Kampton, Vince Lorenzo, Kim Malabunga, Leo Ordiales, Louie Ramirez, Peng Taguibolos, Jau Umandal, Sherwin Umandal, and Adrian Villados.
