DEPED, BCBP PARTNER TO BOOST TRANSPARENCY IN SCHOOL INFRA PROJECTS
THE DEPARTMENT of Education (DepEd) has partnered with the Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals (BCBP) to strengthen transparency, accountability, and good governance in the implementation of its Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects.
Under a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the BCBP will serve as an independent third-party observer for DepEd’s PPP initiatives, particularly the Public-Private Partnership for School Infrastructure Project.
DepEd said the partnership supports its continuing efforts to address the country’s classroom shortage and improve learning environments through sustainable infrastructure development.
“Transparency and accountability are essential in ensuring that every program we implement delivers meaningful results for our learners. This partnership strengthens our commitment to good governance and reinforces public confidence in our education initiatives,” Education Secretary Sonny Angara said.
As part of the agreement, the BCBP will provide an independent perspective during key stages of project implementation, including project development, pre-procurement, procurement, and monitoring, in accordance with existing laws, government policies, and confidentiality safeguards.
The organization’s role will remain strictly independent and advisory. It will offer observations and recommendations aimed at supporting continuous improvement, identifying potential risks, and promoting stronger governance practices in the implementation of DepEd’s infrastructure projects.
