PH SKATER SOFIA FRANK PUNCHES TICKET FOR JUNIOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

The figure skater Sofia Frank proved the Filipinos can once again after qualifying in the 2022 Junior World Figure Skating Championships.

Franks broke the eight-year drought of the country by being part of the Junior World Championships just right after her 13th place finish in the 2021 Santa Claus Cup.

“It’s been 8 long years since the Philippines has sent a female figure skater to the Jr. World Championships. Congratulations, Sofia Frank! You make the Philippines proud!” the Philippine Skating Union posted. 

The 16-year0old skater earned a total of 142.91 points. She finished 23rd in the short program with a 42.97 score, but she produced a strong showing in the free skate, finishing ninth with a score of 99.94.

“So grateful to have this opportunity and compete for such an amazing country! It’s absolutely unreal,” Frank shared on her Instagram account.

“Not the short program I was expecting, but I tried to keep everything together for the long, and got one of the highest long program scores for this season!”
