PALARONG PAMBANSA TO BE HELD IN ILOCOS REGION
THE DEPARTMENT of Education has announced that the 65th Palarong Pambansa will be held in the Ilocos Region from May 24 to 31, 2025.
With the theme “Nagkakaisang Kapuluan,” the national sports event will be hosted by the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte, DepEd Region I, and the Schools Division Office of Ilocos Norte.
The Palaro will feature 24 regular sports, including athletics, basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, taekwondo, and swimming.
In addition, demonstration sports such as weightlifting, and exhibition events like kickboxing, football, and futsal (women’s division) will be included. There will also be a special category for athletes with disabilities, featuring para-athletics, para-swimming, bocce, and goalball.
DepEd also announced that the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) and the National Festival of Talents (NFOT) will be held in the region alongside the Palaro.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. emphasized that one of the key goals of Bagong Pilipinas is to mold the youth into critical thinkers.
“Through Bagong Pilipinas, we will meet our greatest obligation to our youth—to mold them into critical thinkers, problem solvers, and brave visionaries for their country,” Marcos said.
Education Secretary Sonny Angara underscored the significance of these platforms in preparing young people for future challenges.
“These are platforms that empower the youth and help prepare them for a rapidly changing world,” Angara said.
“Bringing these national gatherings to Ilocandia reflects our belief in regional inclusivity and shows how communities like Ilocos are key partners in building a future-ready education system,” he added.
