Import Orlando Johnson and CJ Perez led the team with a breathtaking performance to tie for fifth place together with Phoenix.

Johnson improved his numbers from 12 points against Tropang Giga last game to 31 points against Barangay Ginebra.

“We stuck to what we did against TNT since that game was the first game of Orlando after a long break,” said head coach Leo Austria.

“I’m happy to see him playing and meeting the expectations we’ve been looking for him,” he added.

The first quarter was no-good for San Miguel but finished the second only with a two-point advantage.

The Beermen’s roster mainly relied on Johnson and Perez but thanks to the contributions of June Mar Fajardo and Marcio Lassiter, who bolstered 19 points each, the team was able to clutch the game.

After tying with Phoenix on the same spot, the two teams will match on Wednesday while Ginebra is set to face NLEX on Friday.

San Miguel 110 – Johnson 31, Perez 23, Fajardo 13, Lassiter 13, Romeo 9, Manuel 8, Tautuaa 7, Ross 6, Brondial 0.
