NLEX ENDS THREE-GAME LOSING SKID AFTER DEFEATING BLACKWATER
NLEX Road Warriors ended their three-game losing skid as they dominated Blackwater Bossing, 117-97, in the PBA Governors' Cup on Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
NLEX had a good start in the Governors’ Cup with four consecutive wins before falling into a three-game losing streak.
“Gusto lang naming ma-break ang losing streak after a good start,” said NLEX head coach Yeng Guiao during the post-match press conference.
And the curse of losing was snapped at the exchange of continued winless record for Blackwater as they stayed at the bottom of the standings, 0-7.
NLEX was unstoppable throughout the game as they did not let the Blackwater come close to a 10 point advantage ending each quarter with more than 15 points ahead.
“We just wanted to come off in jumpball with high-energy defense. I guess we were able to do that today. Our offense comes easier if we’re playing good defense right from the start,” Guiao said on the roster’s performance.
“Blackwater was due for a win at some point. Siyempre ayaw namin na kami pa ‘yung mabiktima nila. That was in our minds,” he added.
