Nicole Tiamzon, founder and managing director of Spike and Serve Philippines Inc., is nominated in the Sports category of the Women of the Future Awards South East Asia this year.

Tiamzon established Spike and Serve Philippines Inc., a grassroots volleyball development and program institution for the Filipino youth, after graduating from the University of the Philippines four years ago.

From what she shared with Spin Life, Tiamzon believes that through sports, she can help the young kids just like how volleyball helped her before.

“I learned a lot of values that I can use and apply in the other areas of my life. I learned discipline not just at home but also inside the court. That’s what I’ve wanted to pass on to the next generation. Sport is a good teacher because it can bring out the worst and best character in you,” she said.

The fruits of her labor were rewarded as she was recognized by an international awarding body.

“Being part of the shortlisted nominees in the Sports Category of Women of the Future Awards South East Asia awards along with other strong and kind-hearted women is already a win for us,” Tiamzon wrote in a social media post.

“To the people behind Spike and Serve Philippines Inc. this is all for you! Thank you Lord for this platform! SPORTS and SERVICE have no nationality!”

The Women of the Future Awards was established in 2006 and its goal was to recognize emerging female leaders across diverse sectors.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a short virtual interview with their category judges scheduled for the first week of June.

The winners will be announced at a gala dinner at the Hilton Singapore on October 6.
