QUEZON CITY, Metro Manila — A highly-energized Meralco proved too tough a nut to crack for San Miguel Beer in Game 6 of their own semifinals duel in the Philippine Basketball Association Philippine Cup as the Bolts escaped with a come-from-behind 96-92 win that forged a do-or-die duel between them.

The final Game 7 dance between the two never-say-die squads is set at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Smart-Araneta Center.

A win by either team in the scheduled thriller will give it the right to face Talk ‘N Text which is appearing for its third straight season finals.

In their previous outing, Aaron Black scored the last 11 points for Meralco as the Bolts stole the victory away from the Beermen, who, at one point, appeared to have the series already in the bag when they led 90-80 with a little over four minutes left in the game.

But Meralco stayed glued together en route to pulling the rug from under the Beermen and arranging the Game 7 decider.

In a sterling performance, Tropang Giga’s star guard Jayson Castro finished with a conference-high 26 markers to help his team wrap up the semifinals series in just six games.
