The Angels bounced back to their winning ways after ousting the HD Spikers in an impressive straight sets, led by Kath Arado, who was hailed as Player of the Game with 23 excellent digs and 12 excellent receptions.

Gretchel Soltones came back from a bad stint in their loss against reigning open conference champs Creamline last July 20 as she paced with 14 points and eight excellent receptions.

Ces Molina finished with 11 points and 16 digs, while Ria Meneses and Myla Pablo logged in 10 points apiece in the easy win.

After a 25-18 run in the second set, the Angels immediately pulled off another big advantage, 17-12 but this was cut after committing a flurry of errors and followed by a May Luna hit that tied the scores at 20.

From there, Ces Molina delivered the clutch hits that sparked a 4-0 run to put the Angels at a match-point and eventually sealed the win after a block point coming off another Luna hit.

Pinakaimportante rito ‘yung stable mindset all the way ba, kahit makaranas ka ng down [moments] katulad kami ‘nung natalo,” Petro Gazz head coach Arnold Laniog expressed.

Kailangan pa talagang trabahuhin para sa mga future games, but anyway, third game pa rin lang naman, so ‘yun, one game at a time. Ang importante nanalo,” he added, acknowledging that the team has a lot to work on.

Petro Gazz moved up to 2-1 while Cignal dropped to a 1-2 slate.

Luna spearheaded Cignal with 15 points, Roselyn Doria and Rachel Anne Daquis contributed nine points apiece, while HD Spikers’ leading scorer in their first two games, Janine Marciano was held to just four.

Petro Gazz tentatively will face winless PLDT Home Fibr Power Hitters but the schedule may still change while Cignal will head against BaliPure Water Defenders at 7 pm. on Sunday.
