KAI SOTTO’S MOVE TO NBL STINT ‘GOOD MOVE FOR NOW’, SAYS MARK DICKEL

“It was a good move now for his development,” said former TnT Tropang Giga active consultant and one-time Gilas Pilipinas mentor Mark Dickel to Kai Sotto’s campaign to his NBA dream.

“In my opinion, this is the first good move his handlers have made in his career,” Dickel said in a correspondence with Spin.ph.

Dickel also averred that although the 7-foot-2 Philippine star had parted ways to his Ignite team, he is a fine player that can always find his path to become the first full-blooded Filipino to make it to the NBA.

“It was a good move now for his development,” he shared.

“Kai just needs to get in a situation where he is comfortable. He can really play.”

Take it from the expert as Dickel is no stranger at all in the league playing and coaching for the New Zealander.

He played Otago Nuggets, Wellington Saints, North Harbour Kings, and the Southland Sharks and his debut-coaching was the Canterbury Rams before going to the roster of TnT.

Thus he shared based on experience that “it’s a great league with really good players…He’s [Sotto] playing for a friend of mine who I played for. Great club Adelaide 36ers. It also has other traditional 5s for him to match up with. Australian and New Zealand players play so hard and know how to play.”

“I think it was the best move for him [Sotto],” Dickel concluded.
