KAI SOTTO TALLIES PRO-CAREER-HIGH 12 POINTS BUT SUCCUMBS TO TASMANIA

Kai Sotto executed his pro-career-high 12 points for the second straight game but the Adelaide 36ers could not break its third game skid as it fell to the Tasmania JackJumpers Friday in the 2021-22 NBL season at MyState Bank Arena.

Sotto tallies another 2nd straight double-digit outing on a perfect 4-of-4 clip and 4-of-6 from the free-throw line, to go with 2 rebounds and 1 block in just 16 minutes off the bench but crumbles in the final stretch against Tasmania.

The Filipino wunderkind incurred his fourth personal foul at the 5:51 mark in the final frame that forced him to sit out for the 36ers in the crucial period.

Having no Sotto in the centerfield, the JackJumpers pulled off 6 offensive rebounds in two straight crucial possessions, eventually resulting in a go-ahead, and-one bucket by Matt Kenyon with 1:44 left for the 72-69 lead.

Former NBA player Cameron Bairstow tried to close the gap with a layup at the 1:04 mark to keep the deficit at 3, 71-74.

However, this was erased as guard Dusty Hannahs rushed the next possession and chipped a very long three followed by Josh Magette, who eventually set the final score with 9 seconds left.

Adams steered Tasmania with his 24 points, five assists, four assists, and four steals to bring Tasmania to eighth place in the 10-team league with 3-6 records.

Magette led his side’s fourth-quarter charge, dropping eight of his 16 points in the final canto, alongside his seven assists, six boards, and five steals.

Meanwhile, Dusty Hannahs paced Adelaide with 22 points on 9-of-21 shooting along with four rebounds in the loss that carried Adelaide’s third straight loss, falling 3-6 in the same spot as the JackJumpers.

Cameron Bairstow added 11-point, 17-rebound, and 3-block performance while Daniel Johnson collected 10 points, six boards, and five dimes.

Adelaide will only get one day of rest before facing top-ranked Melbourne United (8-2)  on Sunday, 10 am (Manila time).
