The new development has been confirmed by Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) President Rep. Abraham ‘Bambol’ Tolentino that the hosting countries Thailand and Vietnam are set to make an official announcement next week.

AIMAG was supposedly set to happen on March 10 to 20, 2022 in Bangkok and Chonburi, but according to Tolentino, the Thai government opted to postpone the games for a year due to health and safety reasons.

The Philippines has 160 athletes in line to be sent to the quadrennial meet with the country joining 21 of the 31 sporting events.

While host Vietnam for the 31st Sea Games is expected to happen in May 2022 which was originally planned to kick off later of this year.

“I believe it will be in the latter part of May 2022,” Tolentino said.

Tolentino also averred that the additional budget for these events, amounting to Php 650 million would have to be reduced.
