GILAS PILIPINAS CONTINUES TO HOLD NO. 31 SPOT IN FIBA WORLD RANKINGS

Gilas Pilipinas remained in 31st place in the FIBA World rankings released following the conclusion of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, with 322.8 points.

The national basketball team is also ranked sixth in the region, with Australia scoring 690.5 points to remain the top-ranked Asia Pacific team and finish third in the world rankings.

Second, third, fourth, and fifth place went to No. 22 Iran, No. 25 New Zealand, No. 28 China, and No. 29 South Korea.

Gilas demonstrated a successful run in the Asia Cup qualifiers, topping Group A and securing a spot in the continental match scheduled for July 2022.

The young guns performed admirably in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Belgrade, but the Philippines’ ranking remained unchanged.

With 765.2 points, the four-time Olympic gold medalist United States maintained its lead in the world rankings, followed by silver medalist Spain at 722.4.
