MANILA — In what appeared to be his sweet revenge, Filipino Olympian pole vaulter EJ Obiena seized his fifth gold less than a week after his “retreat” for silver in the ISTAF (Das Internationale Stadionfest Berlin) competitions in Berlin in Germany.

Dominating the Liechtenstein leg of the Golden Fly Series on Monday (Philippine time), the 26-year-old Obiena cleared 5.71 meters to claim his fifth gold medal in seven events.

“I hope I gave you a good show but I wanted to jump a little bit higher,” Obiena quipped.

American Olen Tray Oates settled for silver with a leap of 5.61m while Austrian Riccardo Klotz got the bronze with 5.51m.
