The Cignal HD Spikers have signed versatile player Ayel Estrañero for the upcoming Premier Volleyball League (PVL) first professional season, the team announced on Thursday.

The announcement came off a day after the team officially revealed their move to the professional league after an eight-year stint with Philippine Superliga (PSL).

Estrañero had her collegiate stint with the University of the Philippines (UP) playing different positions which included setter, libero, and attacker.

She was with the Lady Maroons when they won the PVL Collegiate Conference title in 2018.

The Bacolod native also snatched the bronze medal during UAAP Season 80 Beach Volleyball together with her partner Tots Carlos.

Prior to her signing with the HD Spikers, Estrañero had played with the now-disbanded Motolite for two conferences.

With the all-rounder Estrañero joining the team, she will boost the HD Spikers lineup bannered by setter Alohi Robins-Hardy, spikers Rachel Anne Daquis, Fiola Ceballos, May Luna, Janine Marciano, and middle blockers Ranya Musa and Roselyn Doria.

With the addition of Cignal and PLDT, PVL will be having 10 competing teams and eyeing April for its first season as a pro league in a bubble format in Laguna.
